Post: Brunei Darussalam Delegation Attends Milipol TechX 2026 in Singapore

Bandar seri begawan: The Milipol TechX 2026 (MTX 26) Conference and Exhibition took place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in the Republic of Singapore. Leading the Brunei Darussalam delegation was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, who also serves as Chairman of the National Security Committee. The Minister's attendance was upon the invitation of the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore, His Excellency K. Shanmugam.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the delegation included Awang Zulhusam bin Haji Abdul Samad, Acting Permanent Secretary for Security and Law at the Prime Minister's Office; Yang Amat Mulia DCP Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Saifullah bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Royal Brunei Police Force; Awang Azizil Hakim bin Brahim, Acting Controller of Royal Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance and Economy; and senior officers from the Prime Minister's Office.

MTX26, themed 'Supercharging Innovation Today for Our Safe Tomorrow', is an international conference focused on public safety technology. It is jointly organised by the Home Team Science and Technology Agency in strategic collaboration with Milipol. The event emphasizes advancements in Artificial Intelligence-driven technologies aimed at enhancing public safety and fostering a more resilient environment.

The conference gathered approximately 15,000 participants from 75 countries, including senior government officials, industry leaders, experts, and academics. It serves as a platform to discuss innovations, share emerging technology trends, address public safety challenges, and strengthen strategic cooperation within the global public safety community. His Excellency K. Shanmugam officiated the Opening Ceremony of MTX26.

Before attending MTX26, the Brunei Darussalam delegation conducted a working visit to the Singapore Prison Service. The visit focused on studying and assessing the implementation and effectiveness of Singapore's electronic monitoring system, as well as exchanging views and learning best practices related to the technology.
