Post: Brunei Celebrates 1447 Ilal Hijrah with Religious Ceremonies

Bandar Seri Begawan: Brunei Darussalam marked the 1447 Ilal Hijrah with a nationwide reading of the End of Hijrah Year and Hijrah New Year Doa at mosques, surau, and religious halls on the late afternoon of 26th June. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, attended the ceremony at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong. His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik accompanied the Crown Prince.

According to Radio Television Brunei, upon the Crown Prince’s arrival, he was welcomed by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, along with several esteemed ministers. These included Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin, Minister of Home Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.

The ceremony began with the End of Hijrah Year Doa being read three times, followed by 21 cannon shots to signal the arrival of the New Hijrah Year. The mass Fardu Maghrib prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, who also led the Hijrah New Year doa, Sunat Hajat prayer, and Doa selamat.

The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Semarak Hijrah Mencapai Kecemerlangan Yang Mampan,’ was co-organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
