Brunei and Japan Sign Memorandum of Cooperation to Advance Energy Transition
Bandar Seri Begawan – A significant Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed today between the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. The ceremony took place at the International Conference Room of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan, marking a pivotal moment in the energy cooperation between the two nations.
According to radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, represented Brunei Darussalam in the signing. His counterpart from Japan was His Excellency Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Also in attendance were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister’s Office; Awang Mohammad Nizam bin Haji Ismi, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office; and His Excellency Haji Shahbudin bin Haji Musa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Japan.
Following the signing ceremony, the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam held a meeting with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Both sides expressed deep appreciation for the strong and enduring relations between Brunei Darussalam and Japan, anchored by long-standing cooperation in various sectors, including economy, trade and investment, and energy.
The newly signed MoC is anticipated to further enhance the energy cooperation between the two countries, especially in their joint efforts towards realizing energy transition.
