Booster Shot Well Received By the Public

The administration of the third dose of COVID-19 Vaccine or Booster shot, has been well received by the public since the beginning of the Booster Shot Programme. It is given to individuals aged 18 and above, who have completed two doses of vaccination, provided that a period of three months has passed after the second dose was received, regardless of the type of vaccination.

The Booster shot is vital in order to obtain maximum self-protection against the threat of a new variant, called Omicron. According to the Ministry of Health, the booster shot is needed as two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine may not provide adequate protection from the Omicron variant. Hence, concerns over the effects of the Omicron variant have prompted the public to seek booster shots.

The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Ministry of Health is providing the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and will increase the supply by next year. The public who wish to obtain the booster shot, can do so via Walk-In at National Vaccination Centres or make bookings through the BruHealth application which will be opened by the end of this month.
