Bicol MSMEs Set to Showcase at Tokyo Lifestyle Expo
TOKYO, JAPAN — Fifteen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the Bicol Region are poised to display their fashion goods and accessories at the upcoming 19th Lifestyle Expo at Tokyo Big Sight, scheduled for July 3 to 5. This event provides a significant platform for regional businesses to enter the Japanese market with their premium, export-quality products.
According to Dindo Nabol, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Bicol, the selected MSMEs will represent the wearables and homestyle industry clusters. Nabol explained that these enterprises were specifically chosen for their products that utilize indigenous raw materials from Bicol, such as abaca, coconut, and pili shells, which are well-suited for Japanese consumers. “We are expecting more sales, more buyers, and more exposure for our local enterprises,” Nabol communicated via the Philippine News Agency.
The enterprises participating in this expo hail from various parts of Bicol: eight from Albay, three each from Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, and one from Masbate. Nabol highlighted that these MSMEs will introduce new and improved product lines for the summer collection, crafted by seasoned designers from the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP). These products are designed to be functional, innovative, and trendy, aiming to appeal to a discerning international audience.
Additionally, following the expo, there will be an opportunity for these MSMEs to further promote their products through a display at the Philippine Embassy in Japan, extending their exposure beyond the expo itself.
