Post: Bandar Seri Begawan Celebrates 53rd Anniversary with Major Clean-up Effort

Bandar Seri Begawan - In a significant environmental initiative, Bandar Seri Begawan marked its 53rd Anniversary since its name change from Bandar Brunei with a large-scale cleaning campaign on the morning of 11th November.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the event saw the collection of 1,103.28 kilogrammes of garbage. The campaign involved the collaboration of multiple government agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department, the Public Works Department, and the Department of Environment, Park and Recreation, alongside building owners, business tenants, and various Non-Governmental Associations.

The initiative was spearheaded by Awang Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan, Permanent Secretary for Municipality and District at the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health. The campaign, which included the unveiling of new cleanliness signboards, aimed to promote public awareness about maintaining cleanliness and preventing pollution in the capital. The targeted area covered the Menglait Riverbank from the Promenade area of the Menglait River Gadong to Dayang Siti Hamidah Bridge, Gadong, and its surroundings.
