BACOLOD: A drug operation in Silay City, Negros Occidental, led to the seizure of PHP1.156 million worth of shabu and two firearms. The operation, conducted by police operatives on Wednesday, resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lt. Col. Mark Darroca, the primary suspect is Elmer Abela Jr., a 42-year-old fisherman from Barangay Mambulac. Accompanying him were two minors, both 16 years old. The operation commenced when Abela sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP6,000 to an undercover police officer at his residence in Sitio Dacutan Dacu.
Lt. Col. Darroca described Abela as a well-known drug peddler in the area, with the two minors reportedly working for him. Following the arrests, the minors were taken to the Silay City Youth Center.
The police recovered 20 plastic sachets of shabu, totaling 170 grams, with a combined value of PHP1.156 million. In addition to the drugs, a handmade shotgun, a .38 caliber revolver modified into an improvised tooter, a plastic bottle containing ammonium nitrate fuel oil, and various non-drug items were also seized.
The Silay City Police Station has forwarded all recovered items and the firearms to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit-Western Visayas for further examination.
