Astronomy Exhibition Highlights Moon Observation Methods in Islam

Bandar seri begawan: “Pameran Astronomi: Kaedah Penentuan Awal Bulan Hijri” is a month-long exhibition aimed at providing insight into the process and method of observing the hilal, or new moon, in Islamic teachings. The exhibition emphasizes the role and significance of the hilal in determining important dates and was inaugurated on the afternoon of November 1 at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was officiated by Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain alias Maidin, Deputy State Mufti. This exhibition is the first of its kind, organized in collaboration with several divisions and departments, including the Public Relations, International and MABIMS Divisions, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the State Judiciary Department, the State Mufti Department, the Survey Department, and the Brunei Darussalam Astronomical Society. The exhibition features activities such as Sunspots Observation, Sunflares, and Rukyah Hilal.
