Gadong: The ASEAN Regional Workshop on Carbon Pricing and Carbon Markets, held over two days at a hotel in Gadong, was organized to bolster national efforts in strengthening capacity and channeling finance towards climate change projects. The event aligns with the objectives set forth in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The workshop was organized by the Prime Minister's Office through the Brunei Climate Change Office, in collaboration with the European Union via the Technical Assistance Facility for the Green Team Europe Initiative.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development, highlighted the necessity of regional and international cooperation in tackling climate change issues during her speech. The workshop facilitated the sharing of experiences, technical knowledge, and best practices, aimed at enhancing the ability of ASEAN countries to engage in international carbon trading and secure funding for climate change initiatives. The event brought together officials from the Climate Change Working Group, representatives from both government and private sectors, and technical experts from abroad.
