MISAMIS ORIENTAL - The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) awarded commendations to three local government units (LGUs) in Misamis Oriental for their adoption of the electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS), significantly enhancing the business registration process.
According to Philippines news Agency, who personally handed the certificates to the LGUs of Manticao, Alubijid, and Laguindingan, the implementation of eBOSS is part of a broader initiative targeting at least 200 LGUs this year. This system is intended to accelerate transactions and reduce bureaucratic red tape, in alignment with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). "This year, we are targeting at least 200 LGUs adopting the eBOSS system to ensure faster client transactions," Perez stated during an interview.
eBOSS is designed to streamline the procedures for filing applications and issuing local business licenses, permits, clearances, and authorizations via a single digital portal. This initiative is mandated under Republic Act 11032, the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act. DICT's focal person in Northern Mindanao, Nideliza Fe Nacilla, noted that 54 LGUs are actively implementing eBOSS in the region, with others developing compatible systems.
Local leaders, including Manticao Mayor Stephen Tan, advocate for more widespread adoption of eBOSS, citing its potential to attract more investors and boost local economies. Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia also expressed ambitions to implement eBOSS across all LGUs in the province before the end of his term to enhance competitiveness and digitalize business processes.
