Post: Arrest of Two Active and One Ex-Cop in Anti-Scalawag Operations in the Philippines

In a significant development, the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) has arrested two active police officers and a former officer. The arrests, part of ongoing efforts to tackle internal corruption and misconduct within the police force, occurred in various locations across the Philippines.

According to Philippines News Agency, Master Sgt. Joey Cauila was apprehended in Tuguegarao City for violating the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act. The complaint, filed by Cauila's wife, accused him of failing to provide financial support.

Additionally, Pat. Micheal Angelo Basa was arrested in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, on charges of grave threat under the Revised Penal Code. Both officers are currently detained and awaiting further legal proceedings. In a separate incident, former police officer Marvin Jay Pagulayan was arrested in Quezon, Isabela, for estafa. He allegedly defrauded a complainant by failing to deliver on a promise to process land titling in exchange for PHP16,000. The IMEG's actions demonstrate the PNP's ongoing commitment to maintaining integrity and enforcing the law within its ranks.
