Antique Schools Schedule Ceremonies During Cooler ‘Window Period’
ANTIQUE – Public schools in Antique will adhere to a ‘window period’ during the warmer months to conduct moving-up and closing ceremonies for students at various educational levels. This precaution is meant to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures during these events.
According to Philippines News Agency, Chief of the Curriculum and Teaching Division at the Department of Education Schools Division of Antique, the decision aligns with the scheduled events from May 29-31. Ceremonies can take place in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are more bearable. Baña emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of students and parents, suggesting that holding these ceremonies in open areas could be more advantageous than indoor settings. Additionally, he noted that face masks are no longer required at these gatherings.
School officials have been advised to prepare student credentials in advance of the ceremonies. The move comes after a shift to an alternative delivery mode for nearly two months due to high daytime temperatures, which reached dangerous levels of 42°C in March and April, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
