Post: Anfernee Lopena Triumphs in 100m Elite Division at Cel Logistics Weekly Relay Series

PASIG CITY — Anfernee Lopena, a sailor for the Philippine Navy, clinched the title in the men's 100-meter Elite/Open division during the 2023 Cel Logistics, Inc. Weekly Relay Series Finals on Saturday. The competition took place at the Philsports track and field stadium.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lopena, a 29-year-old national athlete, recorded a time of 10.47 seconds, outpacing University of the Philippines' Ahlryan Labita and Mapua's Vince Jayson Buhayan, who clocked in at 10.66 and 10.73 seconds respectively. The victory marked a continuation of Lopena's stellar performance from the previous year, where he set a personal best at the same venue.

Lopena, hailing from Tagbilaran City, Bohol, has accumulated five gold medals across his college athletics career with the College of St. Benilde track team. Angel Ann Panisa from the University of Santo Tomas dominated the women's 100m race, alongside other notable winners in various track and field events, signaling a competitive atmosphere in the Philippine athletics scene.
