Nonthaburi: The country’s Pencak Silat athletes continue to compete in the SEA Games at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani. In the recent events, the athletes faced both challenges and triumphs in their respective categories.
According to Radio Television Brunei, in the quarter-final of the male Seni Tunggal category, national athlete Muhammad Ali Saifullah Abdullah Muhd Suhaimi was defeated by an Indonesian competitor. The match highlighted the competitive nature of the event as athletes from different nations vied for top positions.
In the male Seni Regu category, the nation’s team comprising Muhammad Haziq Aqwa Muhd Iman Safwan, Muhammad Syafiq Haji Sufri, and Awangku Muhd Azhar Nasrullah Pengiran Haji Yasrizam Ayub were unsuccessful against the Filipino team. This category showcased the coordination and teamwork required, as the trio faced a strong opposition.
On a more positive note, in the female Seni Tunggal category, the country’s athlete, Nur Wasiqah Rosihan, successfully advanced to the semi-final. She managed to surpass her competitor from Myanmar with a score of 9.930 points, narrowly edging out the Myanmar athlete who scored 9.920 points. In the upcoming semi-final, Nur Wasiqah will compete against an athlete from Singapore, marking another significant challenge in her quest for a medal.
