Babies Born During 39th National Day

The 23rd of February is meaningful for the parents who welcomed the birth of their babies, in conjunction with the 39th National Day Celebration. As of 6 this afternoon, 11 babies were born at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, 4 baby boys and 7 baby girls.

The birth of the first baby was recorded at 1.33 in the morning, weighing 3.26 kilograms. No births were recorded at the Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital, Temburong District and the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, Belait District.

Reduce the Use of Plastic Bottles Initiative

With the Hashtag of my clean city and no plastic bottles, Green Brunei is among those involved in this year's Brunei Darussalam National Day Celebration. 20 gallons of water were provided by Green Brunei for free to participants and the public during the general assembly ceremony.

Four tents were placed at several locations heading towards Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien. This time, Green Brunei used paper cups to raise public awareness to reduce the use of plastic bottles. The initiative was held in collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad and the Municipal Department, Ministry of Home Affairs with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The cleanliness aspect was also emphasized during the general assembly ceremony. Those who were given the responsibility of ensuring it especially the Labour Division, Municipal Department immediately cleaned the area used after the event. In the meantime, public involvement is also important in ensuring cleanliness during and after the event. Such practices can foster public awareness in addition to ensuring that Brunei Darussalam's environment is always clean, green and safe.

Spirit of National Day Celebration Participants

Happiness can be seen on the faces of the participants when they had the opportunity to participate in the 39th National Day celebration. The participation from all four districts, proves their loyalty to the monarch and the nation.

In Belait District, participants of the National Day Parade left early considering the distance from the gathering venue. Among them was a group of 35 participants representing 7 ethnic groups.

For the Tutong District, the Bestari society and members of the Tutong District Senior Citizens Activity Centre were among those who also enlivened this year's Celebration. Their participation can manifest a sense of pride and patriotic spirit of love for the country.

Citizens and residents of the Temburong District were also not left behind in celebrating the National Day Celebration. Preparations made early in the morning, showed a high spirit of patriotism and unity.

Bus Transportation Service Smoothen the Celebration

280 buses and vans were provided by the National Day Celebration Transportation Working Committee to transport the participants and public attending the celebration. RTB crew yesterday morning had the opportunity to take a closer look at the transportation process provided.

The Shuttle bus service was available as early as 6:00 in the morning. Two "pick up points" were provided, namely at the Jame 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and the Indoor Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex. While the drop-off point was in front of the Royal Regalia Museum.

The shuttle bus service ensured that the journey of the participants and the public towards the capital ran smoothly.

The National Day Oath Reading is a driver for the young generation to continue to enhance their identity and loyalty under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The Oath Reading is one of the highlights at every National Day Celebration.

With a variety of academic and professional backgrounds, the Otah Reader Team is expected to be the catalyst and pioneer leaders with noble characters, world class and agents of future change.

Theme Performance

This year's National Day celebration is even more lively with the use of various props in various patterns and colors that decorate Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien. Various types of props are used to beautify the Theme Performance of 'Warisan Budaya: Jati Diri Bangsa'.

The use of various props in the performance was to bring out the image of the performance. In order to form special patterns in this year's theme performance, several types of props play important roles including "Clap Banner", scrolls, 'bunga manggar', flags, colorful handkerchiefs, scarves and pom-poms. The colourful props were created by designers at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Although the flow of time changes with advanced technology, the cultural heritage of the Bruneian society, comprising seven ethnics group, remains pure in supporting civilization as well as polite and beautiful manners.
