Caraga, Philippines - A significant law enforcement operation by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) has resulted in the arrest of 142 wanted individuals, including high-profile suspects.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-13 information office chief, the arrests were made during Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) conducted from November 14 to 22. Among those arrested is Efren Acain Calamohoy Jr., a 35-year-old squad leader of the New People's Army (NPA) in North Eastern Mindanao. Captured in Lianga, Surigao del Sur on November 21, Calamohoy Jr. faced charges of kidnapping, serious illegal detention, and arson, with warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. He was implicated in significant incidents, including the arson of a military base in Agusan del Sur and the kidnapping of armed forces members in 2018. The operation also led to the apprehension of individuals in various areas, including Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Butuan City, and Dinagat Islands. Additionally, police seized over 83 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around PHP569,936, from 29 drug offenders during the same period.
