Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Jalan Dewan Majlis. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by several high-ranking officials including Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, and other notable ministers.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the visit was marked by the presence of Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti. The State Mufti read the doa selamat during the visit.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is charged with leading religious services and managing all matters related to Islam. It is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes and activities that serve the interests of Islam in Brunei.
