Power Rates Increase in Negros Occidental Due to WESM Price Hike
Negros Occidental, Philippines – Electricity rates in Negros Occidental have risen for November due to an increase in the Wholesale Electric Spot Market (WESM) prices, affecting consumers across three distribution utilities.
According to Philippines News Agency, The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco), Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) have all reported rate hikes. Noneco’s power rate for November is PHP13.21 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up by PHP1.02 from October’s PHP12.18, primarily due to a rise in the WESM market price from PHP6.60 per kWh to PHP7.83. Distribution, supply, and metering charges remain unchanged at PHP1.61 per kWh. Noneco serves areas from EB Magalona town to San Carlos City. Ceneco announced an increase to PHP11.74 per kWh from October’s PHP11.02, citing added generation charges following the WESM price increase. Ceneco covers Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago cities, and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto. In the southern part of the province, Noceco reported an increase to PHP12.62 per kWh from October’s rate of more than PHP12, attributing the rise to the WESM price hike. Noceco’s service area extends from Pulupandan town to Hinoba-an town.
