Tragic Road Accident in Maguindanao Sur Claims Lives of Father and Son, Injures Three Family Members
DATU ANGGAL MIDTIMBANG, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — A devastating road accident on Monday afternoon resulted in the deaths of a farmer and his young son, and left three other family members critically injured, local police reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, the municipal police chief of Datu Anggal Midtimbang, the victims were identified as Mustapha Dalandan, 25, and his six-year-old son, whose name has been withheld. The accident occurred when the tricycle driven by Dalandan was struck by a commuter van while attempting a U-turn on the national highway at approximately 5 p.m.
Dalandan’s wife, Baimen, and their two other children, aged eight and six, were also on board during the incident and sustained serious injuries. They are currently in critical condition at a local hospital. The impact of the collision was severe enough to eject the children from the tricycle, compounding the severity of their injuries.
The driver of the van, Khadafie Guiamaludin, has been arrested and is being held at the Datu Anggal Midtimbang municipal police detention facility. Authorities are now preparing to file charges against Guiamaludin for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and injuries.
