Singapore: Team SHAI from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, emerged as the overall champion at the inaugural AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge 2026. The competition was hosted as part of the ATxSummit 2026 in Singapore. This victory highlighted the advancing capabilities of Brunei Darussalam's youth in leveraging emerging technologies for impactful innovation.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Bruneian team, represented by Dayang Ummi Salwa binti Suhaimei and Hein Minn Tun @ Salman, secured the win with their innovative AI-powered dementia care platform, Sahabat-Care. This accomplishment emphasized the significance of sustained investment in digital innovation, research, and the development of future-ready talent to build a resilient and inclusive digital future for both the nation and the broader ASEAN community. The event was graced by the presence of Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The top three prizes were awarded by His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore.
