TAGUM CITY – The local government of Tagum City has set aside a budget of PHP8 million for the upcoming 26th founding anniversary on March 7, revealed Mayor Rey Uy during a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the funds are earmarked for key events such as the Musikahan, Binibining Tagum, and the civic parade, which are integral parts of the celebration.
Mayor Uy expressed that the anniversary celebration serves as a gesture of appreciation towards the city employees and Tagumenyos, whose support over the past 26 years has been crucial in transforming Tagum from a rural community into a thriving urban center. The mayor also extended gratitude to various stakeholders for their role in the city's development.
Highlighting the celebration, the civic parade is expected to feature participation from public officials, educational institutions, religious organizations, among others. Mayor Uy assured that traffic management plans are in place to ensure the smooth operation of local businesses during the parade.
On the security front, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Latayada, the city's police director, assured comprehensive coverage with all law enforcement personnel being deployed across the various events. He mentioned that an additional 70 personnel from other units would supplement the more than 200 security forces, including military personnel and other force multipliers, to ensure public safety. Despite the absence of specific threats, Latayada emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant to prevent any opportunistic actions by lawless groups.
