Sorsogon Allocates P15 Million for Aid to Isolated Coastal Villages
SORSOGON – The provincial government of Sorsogon has initiated the disbursement of PHP15 million in financial assistance to five coastal villages across three towns, aiming to bolster social services in these geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial information officer, this funding effort seeks to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing them with crucial resources. “The Sorsogon government has decided to give them financial assistance from the provincial fund to somehow improve the social services they provide to their people. Among their allocations of funds are medicines and boats that they can use in case of emergency, and delivery of services and basic needs of residents whenever there is a disaster,” Mendoza explained during an interview on Tuesday.
The first batch of financial aid has been allocated to three villages in the town of Magallanes. Barangay Behia received PHP4.2 million, Barangay Biga was granted PHP2.95 million, and Barangay Sablayan in Juban obtained PHP2.6 million. The next set of disbursements will target the villages of Calintaan and Calayuan in the town of Matnog, with funds expected to be distributed within the week.
