Bandar seri begawan: Six foreigners were arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division, Department of Immigration and National Registration for further investigation, as they are believed to have committed offences under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17. The arrests were made during Operasi Panyap 2025, which targeted rental rooms in Mukim Gadong 'B' and Berakas 'A'.
According to Radio Television Brunei, all of the arrested individuals are believed to have overstayed in the country after their immigration passes had expired. Additionally, three of them are suspected of working for a different employer than the one specified in their immigration documents.
Meanwhile, a separate case involving a Bangladeshi man resulted in a conviction. Mohammed Shipon, aged 38, was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment along with 3 strokes of whipping after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country following the expiration of his immigration pass. The sentence took effect on the 6th of November 2025, marking a continued crackdown on immigration offences in the region.
