Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project Set to Proceed

Davao City – The Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Project, a significant infrastructure undertaking in Mindanao, is confirmed to proceed. Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Secretary Leo Tesoro Magno, in a press briefing held in Davao City, reassured the public that there is no government directive to halt the project. According to Magno, after consulting with the Department of Public Works and Highways last month, it was confirmed that the construction of the bridge would continue despite some challenges.

According to Philippines News Agency, The China Road and Bridge Corp., involved in the project, stated last month that they are more than ready to implement the construction, although there have been concerns regarding right-of-way issues. Magno emphasized the importance of overcoming such hindrances for the project’s success and the need for cooperation between the private and public sectors. Funded through China’s Official Development Assistance, the PHP 23.04 billion toll-free, four-lane bridge is scheduled for completion in 2027. The 3.98-km bridge project, crossing the Pakiputan Strait, will connect Barangay Limao in the Island Garden City of Samal to Davao City, between the R. Castillo and Daang Maharlika junction.
