Rizal Police Capture Long-Evasive Serial Sex Offender After 16 Years
TANAY, Rizal — After a prolonged 16-year manhunt, police in Rizal province have apprehended a serial sex offender, marking the end of his extensive period of evasion.
According to Philippines News Agency, the director of the Rizal Provincial Police Office (RPPO), the arrest occurred on Tuesday evening in Barangay San Juan, Tanay, Rizal. The operation was executed based on multiple warrants for separate sex crimes, including two counts of child abuse and three counts of qualified rape, attributed to the suspect over the years.
The suspect, known only by the pseudonym ‘Dante,’ was located in his hideout by the RPPO operatives. The significant arrest came as a result of persistent efforts by the police to combat sexual offenses in the region. “Rizal Provincial Police Office will continue pursuing wanted persons and we will not cease suppressing crimes that destroy security, peace, and order in the province,” Colonel Maraggun stated to reporters on Wednesday.
Following his capture, ‘Dante’ has been detained at the custodial facility of the Taytay Municipal Police Station. The court has not recommended bail for the suspect, ensuring his retention in custody pending trial. This development represents a crucial victory for law enforcement in Rizal, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the community from individuals posing significant threats to public safety and well-being.
