Philippines and India Forge Stronger Ties Through Tech Summit


Manila: The first India-Philippines Tech Summit (IPTS) was launched by the Embassy of India in the Philippines, marking a significant step toward strengthening the economic and strategic partnership between the two nations through digital technology. According to Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran, speaking at the event held at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City, the summit aims to foster collaboration in various sectors, including security, economic development, and people-to-people exchanges, in the face of advancements such as artificial intelligence. The summit featured Indian ‘unicorns’ and startups in agriculture, healthcare, and fintech, showcasing the potential for bilateral cooperation in digital innovation. Philippine Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy highlighted ongoing negotiations with India on cybersecurity and digital transformation, underscoring the summit’s role in renewing cooperation and celebrating diplomatic ties. The event attracted numerous pa
rticipants, including angel investors and venture capital firms, offering a platform for networking and exploring government-to-business and business-to-business partnerships.
