Ministry of Health Hosts Diabetes Symposium to Address Diabetic Foot Disease

Bandar Seri Begawan – Health professionals gathered at the Ministry of Finance and Economy on the morning of November 5th for the ‘Diabetes Symposium: A Focus on Diabetic Foot Disease,’ an event organized by the Ministry of Health in recognition of World Diabetes Day.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Acting Specialist Endocrinologist at the Endocrine Centre, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, the symposium addressed the severe macro and microvascular complications arising from diabetes, particularly highlighting that diabetic foot ulcers precede 85 percent of diabetes-related amputations. The symposium aimed to enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals in detecting, treating, and managing diabetic foot disease promptly. The event was well-attended, with 180 participants, including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
