Calabarzon, Philippines – The Department of Agriculture in the Calabarzon region (DA-4A) has announced plans to implement 80 farm-to-market road development projects (FMRDP) in 2024, with a total funding of nearly PHP1.3 billion. This initiative aims to enhance the agricultural infrastructure in the region, comprising five provinces.

According to Philippines News Agency, chief of DA-4A’s Regional Agricultural Engineering Division, speaking to the Philippine News Agency, the improved road network will facilitate faster delivery of farm and ocean produce, reducing spoilage and contributing to lower food inflation. The project distribution includes 10 projects in Cavite (PHP181 million), 11 in Laguna (PHP195 million), 29 in Batangas (PHP467 million), nine in Rizal (PHP145 million), and 21 in Quezon (PHP280 million).

Under a memorandum of agreement, the DA is responsible for promoting agricultural development and providing necessary policies and support, while the DPWH takes charge of engineering, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure in accordance with established standards. This partnership is seen as key to ensuring efficient and smooth implementation of the FMRDP.
