Yang Berhormat Calls for Emphasis on Bruneian Identity in National Culture


Bandar Seri Begawan: Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council, participated in discussions focusing on the Bruneian identity. During these deliberations, he underscored the importance of maintaining a strong sense of Bruneian identity among citizens.



According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat emphasized that as citizens of Brunei, their identity is inherently Bruneian, with the Malay Islamic Monarchy serving as the fundamental life philosophy of the nation. He stressed that in the process of nation-building, any emerging culture should inherently reflect the courtesy and decorousness that are characteristic of Brunei’s own cultural values.
