Products of Doubtful Halal Status Identified by Syariah Affairs Department

Bandar seri begawan: The Halal Food Control Division, Syariah Affairs Department, has confirmed that ‘Chicken Sisig with Calamansi’, a product of Purefoods-Hormel Company, Incorporated, Philippines, contains chicken meat with an uncertain source and halal status. The product lacks halal certification from any accredited Halal Certification Body. The Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Syariah Affairs Department, conducted an inspection following a complaint about the product.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Syariah Affairs Department has urged business owners selling these products to immediately remove them from shelves and avoid displaying them in public sales areas. The department reminded all owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, suppliers, and importers to remain vigilant and sensitive regarding imported products. It stressed the importance of ensuring that halal products are not mixed with non-halal products when offered to the public in supermarkets or shops.
