Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah Emphasizes Discipline and Safety at Brunei’s Flag Handover Ceremony
Bandar seri begawan: His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, highlighted the importance of discipline and adherence to regulations at the National Flag Handover Ceremony held for the country’s contingent participating in the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain. The event took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on the morning of October 16.
According to Radio Television Brunei, His Royal Highness urged athletes and officials to uphold the nation’s reputation responsibly, emphasizing the necessity to avoid prohibited substances and to comply with the Anti-Doping act and regulations enforced by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). His Royal Highness also underscored the importance of protecting athletes from harassment and abuse, aligning with the Olympic Council of Asia’s athlete protection policies and the International Olympic Committee’s safeguarding framework.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development and Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, welcomed the participants by emphasizing how their involvement could enhance their skills through healthy competition. The ceremony saw His Royal Highness hand over the national flag to Dayang Noorfairuzah Hani binti Haji Mohamad alias Haji Zaini, the Contingent’s Chef de Mission. The team, consisting of six officers and five athletes, is set to compete in Swimming and Golf events.
