PKBN Trainees Complete Khatam Al-Qur’an Ceremony in Temburong

KAMPUNG BATU APOI, Brunei — The National Service Programme (PKBN) emphasized spiritual development alongside physical training in a Khatam Al-Qur’an Ceremony for its 12th intake of the 2024 session on March 3rd. Held at the PKBN Training Camp’s Lecture Hall in Kampung Batu Apoi, Temburong District, the ceremony underscored the program’s commitment to strengthening the trainees’ spiritual foundations.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Youth, and Sports, 457 Muslim trainees participated in the religious ceremony, which began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports. The event continued with a mass reading of Khatam Al-Quran and Takhtim by the trainees. Khatam certificates were awarded to the male trainees by the Minister, while the female trainees received their certificates from Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Permanent Secretary for Community at the ministry. The presence of a member of the Legislative Council further underscored the ceremony’s importance in the PKBN trainees’ holistic development.
