Surigao City Provides Stipends to Over 1,100 Indigent Senior Citizens


BUTUAN: Surigao City distributed PHP7.1 million in stipends to 1,182 indigent senior citizens from 21 island barangays as part of its Social Pension Program for the first semester of the year.



According to Philippines News Agency, each beneficiary received PHP6,000 during payout activities held on Wednesday. The city government, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, continues to extend various programs and services to assist senior citizens in coping with their needs. The payout activities are scheduled to continue in the city’s mainland villages on April 11 and 12, benefiting an additional 7,416 indigent senior citizens.
