Pays Last Respects

Bandar Seri Begawan: His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Deputy Sultan, this morning paid his last respects to Allahyarham Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Muhammad Zain bin Haji Serudin, Former Minister of Religious Affairs, in Kampung Lambak. Allahyarham passed away last night at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, PJSC, at the age of 88.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Royal Highness performed the ‘jenazah’ or funeral prayer, which was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar. By the command of His Majesty, Allahyarham was honored with the position of ‘Manteri 16,’ carrying the title ‘Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Wangsa.’ Subsequently, he was promoted to ‘Manteri 8,’ with the title ‘Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Diraja,’ and later to ‘Manteri 4,’ with the title ‘Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja.’ Allahyarham also received several State Decorations and Honorary Medals.
