Occidental Mindoro Students Join Work Program During School Vacation


Occidental Mindoro, Philippines – On Monday, 38 students started their temporary jobs across various departments of the local government under the Department of Labor and Employment’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).



According to Philippines News Agency, the students were introduced to June Lee, executive assistant II at the Provincial Governor’s Office, who coordinated their assignments within the local government offices. The program, initiated by Governor Eduardo Gadiano, aims to provide the students with a source of income during their summer break. Participants in the SPES will work for 22 days, earning a daily wage of PHP568. The initiative targets students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, offering them a chance to engage in productive activities while on school break. The provincial government also recognized the support from DOLE and other national agencies for facilitating this employment opportunity for students in need.
