Northern Mindanao Police Confiscate Over PHP1.9 Million in Illegal Drugs in Eight-Day Crackdown


CAGAYAN: The Northern Mindanao police have successfully executed a series of operations against illegal drugs, resulting in the confiscation of PHP1.9 million worth of shabu in just over a week as they kicked off 2024 with a major law enforcement push.



According to Philippines News Agency, director of Police Regional Office-10 (Northern Mindanao), the operations took place in Bukidnon province and Cagayan de Oro City. Layug highlighted the commitment of the police force to eradicate the illegal drug trade in the region and called for community support in fostering a drug-free environment.



The most recent arrest on Tuesday in Kalilangan, Bukidnon, led to the capture of two high-value male suspects, aged 24 and 20. The duo was found in possession of 74.29 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP505,000. This followed earlier operations in Bukidnon that apprehended two males aged 24 and 21 with PHP374,000 worth of shabu, and a 34-year-old male with 79.4 grams of the substance valued at PHP548,000.



In Cagayan de Oro City, the local police office arrested a 49-year-old high-value male suspect in Barangay Macabalan on Monday, seizing PHP102,000 worth of shabu. Additional arrests included two other male suspects, aged 48 and 24, caught with PHP442,000 worth of the illegal drug. These operations form part of a broader effort by the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao, headquartered in Cagayan de Oro City, to clamp down on the drug menace in the area.
