Post: Northern Mindanao LGUs Receive Funding as Part of PHP1 Billion ‘Green’ Initiative

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has earmarked PHP1.055 billion for the Green, Green, Green Program (GGGP), benefiting four provinces and four local government units within the Northern Mindanao Region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the provinces of Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte, along with the LGUs of Baloi, Lugait, Claveria, and Cagayan de Oro City, are included in this substantial funding initiative. The GGGP aims to enhance ecological health and community life across the Philippines by developing green open spaces and supporting infrastructure projects that promote active mobility.

Launched in 2018, the GGGP has been a pivotal component of the national agenda for sustainable development, supporting the vision of a 'Bagong Pilipinas' (New Philippines). This vision emphasizes community improvement, ecological sustainability, and the creation of secure environments for future generations. The DBM has also outlined specific guidelines for the allocation of these funds under the Local Government Support Fund-GGGP in the 2024 General Appropriations Act, ensuring that the investments are directed towards constructing, rehabilitating, and enhancing public parks, plazas, and other green open spaces.
