New Year Encourages Muslims to Embrace ‘Muhasabah’ for Improved Life Journey
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The New Year presents a timely opportunity for Muslims to engage in ‘Muhasabah,’ or self-reflection, as a means to enhance their life journey. This introspective practice involves a personal evaluation of one’s life activities to determine their success and identify areas for improvement. The practice aims to elevate the quality of life by fostering gratitude and self-awareness.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Haji Matussein bin Haji Jumat, Director of the Centre of Research and Understanding of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah at Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), emphasized the importance of ‘Muhasabah’ during an interview. He outlined that one of the objectives Muslims should prioritize in 2025 is to maintain a sense of gratitude for the blessings bestowed by Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala in everyday life.
The concept of ‘Muhasabah’ encourages individuals to critically assess their actions and decisions, allowing for personal growth and spiritual development. Doctor Haji Matussein highlighted that such reflection should be self-initiated and continuous, enabling individuals to recognize past achievements and learn from previous challenges. The process is intended to guide Muslims towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
