Regulatory Sweep Leads to Fines and Confiscations in Brunei Muara District
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — A comprehensive inspection operation, known as ‘Operasi Bersepadu,’ was carried out on June 26, targeting five business premises in the Brunei Muara District, resulting in fines and warnings issued to several businesses for non-compliance.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division and the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the operation led to the discovery of two units of weighing and measuring equipment at Syarikat Z-Shad Sendirian Berhad that failed to comply with the Weights and Measures Act 1983. The equipment, which included a weighing machine with an expired validity date, was confiscated. Additionally, Syarikat Z-Shad was fined $500 for not displaying price tags on some items, a violation of the Price Control Act, Chapter 142. Another business premise received a warning notice during the operation.
