National University Seeks Third Consecutive Win in V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge
MANILA — The National University Bulldogs are set to face the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers in a highly anticipated match in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena on Sunday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the team is looking to secure their third straight victory by sticking to their rigorous practice routines and seeking continuous improvement. “We will still make the same preparations in practice. It is important that in everyday practice, we must improve and in every game, based on the situation, we have to improve more,” Alinsunurin stated. The Bulldogs, who have been finalists in the UAAP for the past two years alongside UST, are on a winning streak, while UST has faced two consecutive losses, including a recent defeat against De La Salle University.
In other V-League action, Ateneo de Manila University will go up against the winless Letran at 5 p.m. Aimar Okeke will lead the Blue Eagles, trying to rebound from their August 4 loss to the Tamaraws. Meanwhile, Letran is looking to overcome its recent narrow loss to Perpetual Help.
In the women’s division, UST will challenge FEU at noon. UST coach Kungfu Reyes emphasized their focus on strengthening weak areas and maintaining consistent transitions. “We will focus on what we lack and where we are still a little weak. And the consistency of our transition, that is what’s important,” said Reyes. Regina Jurado and Bien Arasan will spearhead the Golden Tigresses’ efforts against the Lady Tamaraws, who will rely on Faida Bakanke, Jean Asis, and Tin Ubaldo.
Additionally, defending V-League champions College of St. Benilde, led by Rhea Densing and Wielyn Estoque, are scheduled to face the University of the Philippines, with Nina Ytang and Kassandra Doering at the forefront, at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs have withdrawn from the tournament to attend training camps in Taiwan and participate in the VTV Cup in Ninh Bình, Vietnam.
