National Female Athletes Represent Brunei in Islamic Solidarity Games

Berakas: The participation of three national female athletes in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, demonstrated the country’s commitment to advancing women’s involvement and leadership in sports. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, made the sabda during the National Flag Handover Ceremony to the country’s contingent participating in the games. It took place this afternoon at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas. His Royal Highness also reminded athletes and officials to avoid prohibited substances and to comply with the Anti-Doping act and regulations.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the sabda of His Royal Highness was read by Awang Haji Mohd Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani, Vice President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council. The participation of female athletes aligns with the Women in Sports Strategic Plan for the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council. The national flag was handed over by Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, to Awang Haji Mohammad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly as the contingent’s Chef de Mission. The national contingent, comprising seven athletes and six officers, will participate in three sporting events: fencing, karate, and weightlifting. The Games will take place from the 7th to the 21st of November.
