Bandar seri begawan: The Ministry of Health has emphasized that addressing today's health challenges, including the emergence of new infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, and environmental degradation, requires a collaborative approach beyond any single sector. These threats transcend the boundaries between human and animal health as well as ecosystems.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Minister of Health stressed that these challenges demand an integrated, science-based response, forming the foundation of the One Health approach. This approach recognizes the inseparable connections between human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health. It is not merely a concept but a commitment to collaborate across ministries, disciplines, and borders to foster a healthier and more resilient nation.
In a message aligned with World Health Day, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham Bin Haji Jaafar elaborated on the theme 'Together for Health, Strong with Science.' He highlighted that advancements in public health rely on scientific evidence and multi-sector collaboration. Innovations such as vaccines, disease monitoring systems, early detection tools, and public health policies are products of this collaborative scientific foundation.
The Ministry urged all stakeholders to trust science-based information and reject misinformation, particularly in the digital age. Health is a shared responsibility, not solely that of the government and health workers. Every citizen and resident of Brunei Darussalam is encouraged to act based on scientific evidence to protect their health and that of their loved ones. The public is also urged to support vaccination programs, public health measures, and the responsible use of medicines, especially antimicrobials, to preserve their efficacy for future generations.
