Mel Lopez Boulevard Undergoes Two-Month Closure for Drainage and Repair Works

MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has initiated a partial closure of Mel Lopez Boulevard, also known as Radial Road 10 (R10), starting Wednesday to facilitate extensive drainage construction and reblocking efforts expected to last over two months.

According to the DPWH North Manila District Engineering Office, the construction will focus on the road’s southbound lane near Pacheco Street in Manila, specifically along the sidewalk for drainage enhancements. Additionally, reblocking works will begin at 11 p.m. this Friday, affecting a stretch of 403.40 linear meters from the Philippine Ports Authority’s Pacheco Gate to Moriones Gate on the southbound lane, and 261.90 linear meters between Zaragosa Street and Pacheco Street on the northbound lane.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes during the construction period. The DPWH has committed to reopening the lanes immediately after the estimated completion date of October 31, 2024, aiming to improve road safety and traffic flow in the area as part of the DPWH-National Capital Region’s broader infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
