Marcos Administration Launches ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ for Long-Term Development Projects

QUEZON CITY – The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has unveiled a strategic initiative dubbed ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ (New Philippines), aimed at implementing ‘big and long-term’ projects to foster the country’s development. This ambitious program seeks to invigorate investor confidence and stimulate economic growth through a series of impactful projects.

According to Philippines News Agency, during the Saturday News Forum, state departments are expected to announce their respective ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ projects by February and will submit periodic reports on their progress. Baria outlined the administration’s vision for pursuing substantial investments in long-term projects to benefit the Filipino people. The ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ thinking, as he described, focuses on embracing large-scale ideas and projects, regardless of their idealistic appearance, to ensure the country’s transformation.

The PCO highlighted the administration’s commitment to transparency in the execution of these high-impact projects, alongside the development of innovative and significant ideas aimed at the comprehensive transformation of the Philippines.

In an effort to promote the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ campaign and involve all Filipinos in the national transformation, PCO Director Cris Villonco announced an ‘intense’ promotion campaign. A kickoff rally, directed by President Marcos himself, is scheduled to take place at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila. Villonco emphasized the importance of making the campaign widespread and engaging to empower Filipinos at the core of their identity.

The campaign, which transcends the issuance of an executive order or press releases, is expected to draw approximately 200,000 participants, primarily from the government sector. Although government workers are not mandated but encouraged to attend, the rally is designated as a working activity, with expenses covered by their respective departments. The event will also feature performances by volunteers and artists funded by private sector donors.

Local Government Undersecretary Odillon Pasaraba mentioned the participation of local government units (LGUs) in the rally, underscoring the collective effort required to realize the vision of a ‘New Philippines.’ The ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ initiative, described as a ‘multi-layered’ concept by Baria, aims to transform Filipino pride through mindset change, promoting excellence and national pride across various sectors.

A ‘Serbisyo Fair’ is also organized as part of the kickoff rally, where participants can avail themselves of services from various government agencies. These include the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Government Service Insurance System, PhilHealth, the Philippine Statistics Authority, Pag-IBIG Fund, the Social Security System, the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, and the Professional Regulatory Commission, among others.

The PCO has detailed the available services during the event on its official Facebook page, inviting citizens to register and participate in the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ kickoff rally and the Serbisyo Fair.
