Manila City Hall Employees to Receive Priority in Three New Housing Projects

Manila – The city government of Manila has announced that its employees will be prioritized in three upcoming housing projects. Mayor Honey Lacuna, at a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, stated that the initiative is part of the local government’s commitment to enhance the living conditions of its workforce. Mayor Lacuna emphasized the need to prioritize city hall staff, acknowledging that many do not own homes.

According to Philippines News Agency, this policy serves as a token of gratitude to the employees for their diligent service to the community, especially noted during the Covid-19 pandemic when they responded effectively to the needs of the city’s informal settlers. Initially, the housing projects were developed for these informal settlers, resulting in the completion and turnover of four projects: Basecommunity, Tondominium 1 and 2, and Binondominium.

This year, the San Sebastian Residences, along with two other projects located on Pedro Gil Street and San Lazaro Street in Sta. Cruz, are expected to be completed. San Sebastian Residences, a 20-story building on Plaza del Carmen Street in Quiapo, features 243 two-bedroom units, each measuring 40 square meters.

The Manila Urban Settlements Office is tasked with assessing the eligibility of potential beneficiaries for these projects.
