Malaysian National Faces Legal Consequences for Customs Offences
Bandar seri begawan: A Malaysian citizen has been presented before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court on charges related to four offences under the Excise Order 2006.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the 45-year-old individual, identified as Chan Nyuk Ho, has been fined $27,000 Brunei Dollars. In the event of non-payment, Chan faces a default sentence of 27 months in imprisonment. The court has ordered the seizure and destruction of all contraband, which included cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. In addition to the contraband, cash amounting to $1,100 Brunei Dollars and $164 Malaysian Ringgit was confiscated for further action.
