Major General Noe Alberto Q. Peñafiel Takes Helm of Bicol’s 9th Infantry Division with Strategic Focus

PILI, CAMARINES SUR — Major General Noe Alberto Q. Peñafiel, the newly appointed commander of the Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry Division (9ID), outlined his leadership strategy centered on the acronym WIN – Work as a team, Innovate for the campaign, and Nurture peace and preparedness for defense, during his recent installation.

According to Philippines News Agency, 9ID spokesperson, Peñafiel emphasized his commitment to winning for the country, its people, and specifically for Bicolandia, drawing inspiration from the achievements of his predecessor. The change of command ceremony was held on Monday at Camp Elias Angeles, where Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, commanding general of the Philippine Army, officiated Peñafiel’s assumption into his new role.

Peñafiel replaces Maj. Gen. Adonis R. Bajao, who retired upon reaching the mandatory retirement age. Peñafiel praised Bajao’s leadership and expressed honor in continuing the legacy of success established under Bajao’s command. Prior to this role, Peñafiel served as the internal auditor at the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and commanded the 903rd Infantry “Patriot” Brigade from 2020 to 2021, making significant contributions to the security and development of Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

Peñafiel, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Sambisig Class of 1991, will now lead over 6,000 soldiers of the 9ID, aiming to enhance the division’s operational effectiveness and community relations in the region.
