Knowledge Convention Seminar 2025 Emphasizes Charity for National Development
Berakas: Strengthening the community’s understanding and appreciation of the benefits of charity based on the Maqasid Syariah framework were among the objectives of the Knowledge Convention Seminar 2025 held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. With the theme ‘The Country is Upheld With Charity’, the seminar in conjunction with the Knowledge Convention 2025 was held through three main sessions.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the second session of the seminar on 20th October morning focused on ‘Charity as a Catalyst for National Development and Social Well-being.’ The session was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs. During this session, three working papers were presented, discussing topics such as the experience of the Council of Social Welfare in managing donations, the role of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah as a charitable platform, and the function of JAPEM as a facilitator in channeling sedekah or alms.
Earlier, the first session titled ‘Fadilat dan Keberkatan Sedekah dalam Maqasid Syariah’ was held, with Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar’ie Judge, in attendance. This session featured the presentation of three working papers that highlighted fatwas on ‘sedekah sunat’ or commendable charity issued by the State Mufti Department, providing explanations on charity as more than just an act of worship, alongside the virtues of charity.
