Junjung Ziarah Ceremony Marks Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration in Brunei
Bandar Seri Begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Junjung Ziarah ceremony at Baitur Rahmah, Istana Nurul Iman. On the first day, 36,167 well-wishers visited Istana Nurul Iman for the ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, reflecting the care and warmth of Their Majesties in celebrating the festival with the people.
According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty received in audience and junjung ziarah from the male well-wishers, with members of the Royal Family also present. The ceremony, open to the public, marks a significant tradition for the people of Brunei, providing an opportunity to engage with the Royal Family during the festive season.
The Junjung Ziarah ceremony witnessed 36,167 visitors, including officers and staff from the Prime Minister’s Office, government officials, uniformed personnel, and citizens. The morning session alone recorded 21,106 well-wishers, emphasizing the significance of the event for local and overseas visitors, especially after the closure of Istana Nurul Iman due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In another part of the Istana, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri received in audience and junjung ziarah from the female well-wishers, with members of the Royal Family in attendance. The ceremony serves as a golden opportunity for people from all walks of life to share in the happiness and cheer of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
