PHLPost Welcomes New Board Chair and Members in Governance Refresh
MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled a significant update to its leadership team on Thursday, with the appointment of four seasoned professionals to its Board of Directors, signaling a new phase in its corporate governance and strategic direction. Retired Justice Stephen C. Cruz takes the helm as the new chairman of the PHLPost Board of Directors, alongside Postmaster General and CEO Luis D. Carlos, who has been elected as vice chairman.
According to Philippines News Agency, the board now includes Cruz, Patrick David R. De Leon, retired Commodore Raul B. Leyritana, Maura Baghari-Regis, Ambassador Vidal E. Querol, Director Liberty C. Avila, and Postmaster General Carlos, with Lawyer Wendell V. Dimaculangan serving as the new Corporate Secretary. The appointments are part of PHLPost’s strategic initiative to modernize and expand its services beyond traditional mail delivery, embracing e-commerce and logistics to better meet the evolving demands of the digital age.
Cruz, an alumnus of the Ateneo Law School and a veteran of the legal field with over 37 years of practice, aims to leverage his extensive experience to drive PHLPost’s modernization efforts. His career highlights include roles in the office of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and serving as a presiding judge and later as a member of the Court of Appeals. Cruz’s vision for PHLPost includes a strong emphasis on innovation and the exploration of non-traditional revenue streams, alongside fostering a collaborative work environment to achieve the corporation’s goals.
